Hi,
I'm completely frustrated, because my guest system Windows XP does not detect the serial port of my computer.
There are 3 possible adjustments under "serial interfaces -> port modus"
1.) not connected
2.) host - pipe
3.) host - interface
Does anybody know which of these 3 settings is the right or rather should be used ... and how???
Thank's a lot in advance to everybody who can help!

It's best to read the manual for that setting. As for access to the serial ports, are you a member of the group that has access to it?

Linux Host (Fedora 10) running Linux guests (Ubuntu and Fedora so far). I am trying to get access to the serial port from the guests. The guests see the "hardware". When I use the socket connection I have been able to send data from the host to the guest using socat. When I try to assign the device, it seems to be there correctly, statserial shows the expected state. But when I connect something (a Palm Pilot cradle) the host never gets the correct status. I can run statserial on the host and see the DSR line toggle on and off when I plug/unplug the Pilot. But the guest never sees the status change.
