iMac 27" mid-2010
OS/X 10.13.6

I attempted to install VBox 6.1.22 on the iMac. A message pronounced that the software cannot be installed on this computer. (v6.1.18 successfully installed.)

Is the hardware too old?
Is the OS too old?

Ok, it's 64 bit, so it should work... Can you send a screenshot?

The minimum requirements that you are going to need are:

• a 64-Bit Computer

• at least 4GB RAM

• a Dual-Core processor

If not, then :-(

VBox 6.1.18 installed without a problem and is currently laboring under Windows 10.

However...

I ran the installation today. It got to the same point of "Not allowed." Then, while I was discovering how to take a screenshot (about a minute), it decided to continue with the installation, asking where to install. v6.1.22 installed successfully.

Apparently, I simply did not wait long enough for the script to make its decision.

This is also a problem with guest additions and XP, so it is not unusual for Vbox to overwhelm the computer. Well, I guess we just all need to be patient!

XP has not been a supported host for some considerable time. v5.0.x. I think (July 2015, XP was 13 years old by then). Ditto Vista. Win7 and Win8 were dropped as hosts in v6.1.x.

Supported hosts are listed in the user manual, section 1.4. Mac OS X 10.13 does seem to be listed.

Also, VirtualBox does not typically drop OS support across minor version increments. Only major versions. So I suggest something else is going on here: perhaps exact details on the error message will help.
