Black screen after login (Lubuntu VM)

Hello everyone,

I have been using a Lubuntu VM (20.04.1) on Windows 10 and it was working just fine until now. I can boot my machine but it gets stuck on a black screen after I’ve logged in. I haven’t updated the system recently or made any changes that could explain the problem.

I have tried looking for solutions online but I can’t seem to find one that works. I am also not a programmer so my knowledge on this is quite limited.

I have also attached the log file on a compressed folder as it was too big.

Thank you very much!

The vbox.log does not show problems. The typical Hyper-V interference is not happening on your host.

One thing I did see, your VM General settings, Basic tab, Version dropdown, says 'Linux'. A new Lubuntu VM I just made says "Ubuntu". Maybe there is a subtle difference.

If this VM was working before and no changes were made in the VM settings, then it may be an in-the-VM-OS problem. Ubuntu is known to fail to load the GUI when the disk runs out of space.

Try pretending this is a real computer with Lubuntu installed, and use Lubuntu help forums to get the GUI running again.

Ok, thank you so much for your help! I’ll try that!
