Those Guest Additions are
really long in the tooth, maybe upgrade them?
00:00:15.726552 VMMDev: Guest Additions information report: Version 4.1.44 r104071 '4.1.44_Ubuntu'
Aside from that, I can't see anything else wrong.

The Virtualbox manual, section 4, explains Guest Additions installation.

Well, I think the manual doesn't cover the case that you cannot really boot into the guest.
I'd suggest the following approach as a preparation: In the VM configuration, add a Linux live ISO (e.g. an Ubuntu installation ISO) to boot from, start the VM, mount the hard disk root partition, search and rename all files matching
vboxguest.ko*, shut down the guest, remove the ISO from the VM configuration, and during the next start the VirtualBox Guest Additions should not pose a problem any more ...

Ah, yes, you have a distinct point there!
