Nothing particularly odd seems to happen in the log. The VM environment looks like it is running well.

Have you had the VM for a while? Did you run updates in it before it went black-screen?

I've had this VM for a while now. I had been ignoring the VirtualBox updates for a while now but decided to finally update it recently. I might have been able to use the VM after the update, but I can't quite recall. It would be unfortunate if I can't figure out how to get it working, because I had some pretty important work on it and I hadn't set a snapshot at all.

Ubuntu is known to go black screen if it runs out of disk space. I don't see anything wrong in the log. Try web-searching what to do if an Ubuntu PC runs out of disk space and won't go beyond the black screen, then do it to the VM.

Also, a backup of the VM files, and your whole PC, would not be amiss if the data is important. A computer does what it does, and data should be backed up.
