How to upgrade virtualbox 1.5.6 to 2.0.2 in ubuntu

Post by elisa »

Hi guys!

I have installed VirtualBox 1.5.6 on a PC ubuntu amd64 Hrady.

I saw that a new version of VirtualBox (2.0) has been released now!

I would like to test this new ones!

Could Someone indicate to me how to do an upgrade from the oldest to the newest release without compromise the virtual machines that I have already configured?

Thank you

I was running VB 1.5.x under Ubuntu Hardy 64-bit. I downloaded the .deb file for 2.0.2, installed it, and everything just worked. No problems running any of my virtual machines.

The .deb file for Ubuntu 8.04-64bit is here: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualb ... _amd64.deb

What about inserting a repository for VB in your sources.list?

I did this upgrade yesterday and I had to notice that it has been necessary to shut down the VMs instead of save their states. Works fine.
