Dropping Support For Windows 7 Hosts?
When does Oracle plan on dropping support for running on Windows 7 as the host O/S? If I am currently running Virtual-Box on my Windows 7 machine but will automatic updates just stop or will I run into a situation where I attempt an update that fails because Windows 7 is no longer a supported host and then I can't get back to my previous version? I am tempted to freeze updates to VB until I get a clear answer to this question. It's part of the old adage "Don't fix what isn't broken".

Technically, support for Windows 7 Hosts has already been dropped, i.e. the User Manual (6.1.18 Para 1.4) states 8.1 is the earliest supported Windows version. Earlier major versions of Virtual VirtualBox 5.2.x and 6.0.x are also no longer officially supported.

I'm not aware that VirtualBox does automatic updating of host software.TheOtherDave wrote:but will automatic updates just stop
As mentioned, Win7 as host has already (in v6.1.x) been officially dropped. That does not mean it's guaranteed to fail, it just means that the devs have officially stopped caring either way.
