i've just reinstalled my laptop os with win7 pro sp1.

and then i installed virtualbox 6.18.

while when i try to install cent7 on the virtual machine.

it prompts below error log in red.

Failed to load R0 module C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox/VMMR0.r0: Signature #2/3: Expected at least 2 valid paths, not 1.: \Device\HarddiskVolume1\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VMMR0.r0 (VERR_SUP_VP_UNEXPECTED_VALID_PATH_COUNT).

Failed to load VMMR0.r0 (VERR_SUP_VP_UNEXPECTED_VALID_PATH_COUNT).

return code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
component: ConsoleWrap
gui: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}

i 've check my configuration many times to make sure it's correct.

and i tried the old version 5 it works just fine.

so i am wondering if it causes by my OS lacks of some lib or sth that be used by the ver 6.18.

pls help to look into it tks in advance.

i had done a lot of research works on the internet . i found there were few people got this issue.

and their solution is to uninstall version 6.18 and to install version 6.0.24 for me it works too.

but the thing is i have used version 6.18 without such problems before i reinstalled my OS on my laptop.

This really is annoy to me.

If you check the VirtualBox User Guide for VirtualBox 6.1.x you will see that the VirtualBox software is no longer listed as being compatible with Windows 7 Hosts.

The earliest supported Windows Host software is currently 8.1, so, if you are continuing to run a Windows 7 Host, it's probably best not to upgrade VirtualBox beyond the last 6.0 version, which is no longer supported so, presumably, won't be receiving any further upgrades/patches and may experience increasing problems with Guest OS upgrades over time.
