Virtual box NETBEUI

Post by VINC811 »

Hello

I am a maintenance technician.
I have a problem with one process
Actualy I have a machine with a XP pc OS and a OSAI CNC.
The communication between the PC and the CNC is on NETBEUI Protocol

I want to change the old pc by a new one with W10 OS and a vm with an XPOS

But how can I connect the VM (XP) with my OSAI CNC with NETBEUI protocol ?
How I must configure the network on virtual box ?

Thanks a lot

Use Bridged Networking in the VM (see user manual chapter 6). That gives it driver level access to the network card. The guest OS can implement any higher level network protocols that it likes.

If NetBEUI is not installed in XP (I don't think it was by default) you may need to install it from the CD or download the required .sys and .inf files and install the protocol.

It is certainly not available by default in my XP Pro SP3 VM. XP was already using TCP/IP as the default protocol, which replaced the proprietary protocols like NetBEUI.
