Hi all,
I have just bought a new laptop and have Vista 64 Ultimate installed. I went to the Downloads and picked the top entry:
* VirtualBox 2.0.2 for Windows hosts x86 | AMD64 (only on Windows x64!)
Once downloaded I have tried to install but it comes up with saying this version is for 32bit and I need to download the 64bit version
I thought I had !!
Where can I get the 64 bit version and for Vista ?
Thanks
Warwick

You can download the 64 bit version here:
ModEdit: deleted account activation URL
it will work for AMD or intel 64 bit procs running Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I use this version now on Vista ultimate 64.

This might be so - but unfortunately this forum gives me this when I click your link
You have already activated your account
Something can't be right !! Looking at your link it does seem to something about "activate" - which I have done already

Thanks - I'll try this but I take AMD64 to mean an AMD chip and not an INTEL64 chip. I'm downloading now and see what happens, but if this is right then someone needs shooting
I'll let you know how it goes
thanks

Ah, there have been posts on this in the past. You are forgetting than Intel dropped its version of the x86-64 instruction set and adopted the AMD64 order code definitions. So this does run on Intel as the various FAQs point out. Comfuising, yes. Shooting, no.

Quite so !!!
All up and running - now I just need to try and follow the instructions for getting an Acronis backup image into a form (vmdk ?) so I can use it in Virtualbox.
