"VirtualBox kernel driver not installed" on W2K ho

Post by hanneshar »

Hallo,

I'm using VB on a W2K host. Currently I have VB 1.5.2 installed with admin privileges. Before I had various "portable" versions running: initially I had a 1.5.x version which was working fine. Later on I tried a 1.6.x and 2.x - both did not run (later I heard that these versions are not running on W2K at all). However, going back to a 1.5.x version (portable or installed) I always receive now this error message:

VirtualBox kernel driver not installed.
VBox status code: -1908 (VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED).

Fehlercode:
E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Komponente:
Console
Interface:
IConsole {1dea5c4b-0753-4193-b909-22330f64ec45}

For me it seams there is some kind of trash somewhere in the W2k host machine left over. I already tried to remove all registry entries names "virtualbox" and reinstalled VB 1.5.2, but this did not helped.

Any suggestions besides "reinstall host"?

Hallo,

I forgot to mention that I have installed all recent W2K updates on the system.

Any suggestions what is wrong with my VB?
