Putty prompt to connect to OEL virtual server too slow

Hi,

I am working with VirtualBox 6.1.18 installed on a Windows 10 host.

I have configured an OEL 7.4 server.
I can connect directly to it, it has a dnamic IP address allocated.
But, when I try to conect to it with Putty and frm the Windows host, it takes few minutes before I can get the pronpt to log onto the remote server.
Is there a way to reduce this latency? I would expect to get the prompt to connect within no more than few seconds.
Is it a configuration that can be done on the remote Linux server?

Kind Regards

There should not be any interference from Virtualbox in this delay. If one can ping through the Virtualbox network, then the network should be working and something else is misconfigured. "Should" being the operative word. It is a computer, it may have problems.

You could try pinging out from the VM while your Putty is attempting to connect. I'd try a ping out before the Putty, and keep the ping going while the Putty is connected, see if the VM keeps pinging. Also try opening up the network so you can ping into the VM then start Putty and see what ping does.

Alternatively a Wireshark trace might help, though I personally wouldn't be the one to interpret the trace.

From the Windows host I can ping the Linux machine, just when I try to create a ssh connection with putty it takes about 3 miins before I get i.
Even if I ping with ping -t before to connect with putty
What can I do with Wireshark and putty?
