Issues with VM (CyberOps Security Onion)

Post by Koans »

Hello everyone,

After importing the "CyberOps Security Onion" VM into the box, I was able to log in.
After successfully logging in, a "guru meditation" box would suddenly appear. And I'm basically forced to abort.
If I choose to ignore the guru, my computer would start freezing.

I have provided the guru mediation box in the attachment. I'm unable to attach the log file. It says the file is too big.

Thank you

Use zip. Include the VBoxHardening.log file too.

Reason: Mod note: despite name, this attachment includes the VM log also.

You are allocating RAM you don't have available. I don't know how you ever expected to have 4GB available RAM on a host with 3.5GB RAM total!
00:00:09.911086 Host RAM: 3554MB (3.4GB) total, 1313MB available
...
00:00:10.368733 RamSize <integer> = 0x0000000100000000 (4 294 967 296, 4 096 MB, 4.0 GB)
...
00:03:06.359668 !! VCPU0: Guru Meditation -27 (VERR_NO_PAGE_MEMORY)
The most RAM this host can afford to allocate is 1024MB. I would also give the VM 2 cores, and increase graphics RAM to 32MB. Long term, it's a Notebook PC so you shouldn't expect too much.
