Display/graphics issue after hardware upgrade.

Post by Jazz1 »

Hi;
I updated my MB and Processor and now have display issues in VB guests.
The guests do not resize, they keep flashing and get smaller and smaller.
They do seem stable if maximized.
Also I now get Mouse integration messages.
New MB/Graphics are now Intel's built in graphics .
I have Reinstalled/Repaired VB. I have also Reinstalled guest additions. ver 6.1.16
Do I need to change some setting in VirtualBox or Guests? Display graphics controller maybe? Current is VMSVGA.

TIA
Awaiting suggestions.

I may have found the issue(not 100% sure)
I had Scaling in preferences set at 115%. changed to 100% and it seems to have fixed the issue in at least some of the VM's.

Pick one VM showing problems. Start the VM from full power off, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the VM from within the VM OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the VM with the Power Off option set.

Please right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log and the next tab over (the hardening log), zip both files, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

The video card in the VM should stay what the Create Virtual Machine wizard set it up with.

Also try a fresh new VM with the bundled Guest Additions, see how that VM performs.

I do not know what I did, maybe changing display settings on host, but everything seems to be working.
Thank you all for your help.
