Cannot create Ubuntu Guest VM - stalls on LXD

Hi,

I have been using Virtualbox for some years to create a number of Linux VMs but have not used it for a year or so. I have been trying to create a VM for Unbuntu 18 but when loading the ISO it always stops at "Started LXD - container startup/shutdown". I have searched for a solution but have not found anything that has made any difference and reading the logs is a bit above my paygrade unfortunately.
I have attached the logs from a typical start up action.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hyper-V is enabled. See HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM (Hyper-V is active)
