Hi,
I have been trying to set up Ubuntu (20.04.1) 64bit on Windows 10 on following instructions I've found online.
When I launch it I'm just shown a black screen with a blinking underscore.
I've tried increasing video memory to 64mb, 128mb. Ive tried increasing processor count to 2 and 4. Ive tried enabling PAE/NX. Nothing seems to work.
I am a total beginner with linux and virtualization so don't have much of a clue what's going on, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I attach a log file.

Hyper-V is enabled. See HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM (Hyper-V is active)

Re: Ubuntu VM black screen
Yes that was the issue. I managed to disable it using this method:
Step 1 : Open CMD as administrator and type bcdedit /copy {current} /d "No Hyper-V"
The entry was successfully copied to {ff-23-113-824e-5c5144ea}.
copy the ID obtained in step 1. and use in 2nd step
Step 2 :
bcdedit /set {ff-23-113-824e-5c5144ea} hypervisorlaunchtype off
The operation completed successfully.
Now when I boot theres a menu with 2 options:
- Windows 10
- No Hyper-V
Step 1 : Open CMD as administrator and type bcdedit /copy {current} /d "No Hyper-V"
The entry was successfully copied to {ff-23-113-824e-5c5144ea}.
copy the ID obtained in step 1. and use in 2nd step
Step 2 :
bcdedit /set {ff-23-113-824e-5c5144ea} hypervisorlaunchtype off
The operation completed successfully.

- Windows 10
- No Hyper-V
