Brazilian keyboard won't work on WinXP guest on Gentoo host

I have Windows XP installed on VirtualBox 1.4.0 on a Gentoo host.

I want to use the brazilian ABNT2 keyboard which is working fine on Gentoo itself, on Windows XP inside VMWare but not on Windows XP inside VirtualBox.

If I type an ' and then an a I should get an á but inside VirtualBox I get nothing.

I tried a virtual machine created on a Ubuntu machine with the same configuration. The brazilian keyboard works just fine on Ubuntu but when I copy the virtual machine to Gentoo, the keyboard problem reappears.

Any suggestion?

Same problem with Mandriva 2007 guest on Mandriva 2007 host

I have been trying all kind of configurations to get the keyboard to work properly. Both Us (international and normal), ABNT, different kind of types of keyboard (tried all the generic ones)

The keys that do not work or are out of place are the keys for:

1. punction/accentuation
2. slash/filter
3. Cedilha (Ç)
4. single and double quotes

The multimedia keys don't work out of the box on the host system, so they also don't work on the guest system. I don't care to much for those keys though, I'd rather have the normal keys working.

I'm running Mandriva 2007 an the host and Mandriva 2007.1 (Spring) on the guest. My keyboard is a Microsoft Comfort Cruve Keyboard 2000

I have the same problem

rsevero,

I have the same problem with accentuation.

I run Virtualbox on a Gentoo 64bits system.
Did you find any solution? Please, share with us if did.

thanks

In VirtualBox 1.6.2 I found a solution unchecking the option "Auto capture keyboard" in File > Preferences > Input.
