Malwarebytes & supR3HardenedWinReSpawn error

Post by snugthejoiner »

This is a familiar issue and was wondering whether someone might help. When endeavoring to start a VirtualBox VM process using Linux Lite 5.2, an error occurs supR3HardenedWinReSpawn 5 VERR_INVALID (-104) - Invalid (malformed) file/path name. Within the VBoxHardening.log it is clear that Malwarebytes is involved.

I suppose I could uninstall Malwarebytes to check if it is truly involved. But I would like Virtualbox and Malwarebytes to coexist. By the way, Trusteer Rapport is turned off.

I have attached a screen clip but the log is 193 KiB.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

Please 'zip' any logs and upload using the "Upload attachment' Tab in a response, but I think you already know the likely response:

Try to 'whitelist' all VirtualBox processes in the security apps and/or completely uninstall your third party security software to test whether or not it's the direct cause of the problem. Then reinstall the security software you feel is absolutely necessary once VirtualBox is working and retest. It'll give the security stuff a better chance of 'learning/allowing' what VirtualBox needs to access.
