Unable to select host Optical drive

I'm running vbox 6.1.16 r140961 on Ubuntu 20.04. I'm using a Windows 10 guest VM. I'm trying to choose my host optical drive to share with the VM using the devices menu and while the drive is there, it won't check. I can select it, but the check mark doesn't stick and the drive doesn't show up in the Windows guest. I've tried having nothing in the drive, a CD in the drive, a blank disc in the drive and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
