Hi all,

I`m very new to VirtualBox and Linux but I´m now trying to set up my Huawei USB mobile broadband dongle to my Windows 10 VM in Virtualbox (only vm)
I tried a guide in a other thread but it didn't worked...
I want that only the Win10 VM using this device without my host to use it !
I dont now what to do and I tried everything I could find.
Or: Is this even possible ??

We have a tutorial on that very subject. The host in the tutorial is Windows but most of the issues are the same.

The user manual has tips on how to get general USB capture working on Linux hosts.

As to making sure only the VM has access: that's a given. USB devices can't be shared. USB devices are point to point (one device <-> one PC). It's impossible to plug them into two PCs at once so their drivers simply don't have that concept. If it's plugged into a VM (though redirected at a base level) then it can't also be plugged into the host OS.

I found this thread before but its not working for me. I tried it a few times. In the VM settings I can only enable one of the given USB Controllers.And when I add a filter it doesnt give me the "New device added" on my Windows 10 VM. As a Host I'm using Debian 10.

You apparently haven't gone through the tutorial completely. Look at post 8.

To avoid confusion: the USB mobile broadband tutorial linked above doesn't have a post #8. Scott is probably thinking of the Socratis USB tutorial: USB Basics and Troubleshooting, which is not specific to the extra issues of mobile network dongles but still worth a read.
