How to increase maximum size of virtual disk?

I set a maximum size on a dynamic disk. Is there a way to change the maximum size after the virtual machine has been created?

I can't seem to find anything in the doc's, the gui or the cli that would indicate how to do this. The forums do have a way of increasing the partition from within the vdi but that seems to assume that virtualbox manager will allow a greater size...

Can anyone provide me with some clarity/direction for this?

Please see the VirtualBox FAQ for this.

I did see the FAQ on it, the one about increasing the size of the virtual drive within the vdi does not apply in my case.

As stated above - the image was made with a maximum size and I'd like to increase that size but can't find a way to do so.

That's what is described. You need to create a new VDI file with a different max size and clone the install to that new VDI.
