Unable to configure eth0

Post by Nuckhead »

Hi all,

I'm trying to set up the network on a virtual box 6.1 running ubuntu on windows 10. The server is up and running but I cannot connect to it from a browser and no ethX connection appears. Running ifconfig shows enp0s3 and lo connections and neither has an ip address.

Have tried all the available network adapters. When selecting Bridged Adapter it only shows 2 options (both fail). I was advised to used the Wireless LAN connection.

I'm sure this is something obvious but never having set up a VM before I don't know what I'm missing. Please can anyone advise my mistake or what I'm missing.

Thanks.

It would make more sense to me if you told us what you hope to achieve rather than what has failed to happen.

Where do you want to access the virtual server from? How it the host machine networked? Is it on a LAN or is it directly connected to the Internet? (Bridged will only work if you are on a LAN, and some wifi networks are not compatible with bridged mode).
