Frequent VPN drops using Linux guest

Post by Taw »

Hello,
I have a Windows host and a Linux (Ubuntu) guest, using NAT with "Promiscuos Mode: deny".
I use Pulse Secure app to connect to my company's VPN and I work on an Ubuntu guest.

I get at least 10 VPN disconnects during the day, my internet works but my intranet company sites do not (no VPN, of course).
I always "fix it" by clicking in the lower-right of the screen Network-Wired Connection 1 to reconnect. And it works for max 30mins (sometimes less, sometimes more) and then it disconnects again.

What is the cause of this, how can I fix it?

Thank you

The question arises whether it is Virtualbox, the VM's OS, or the VPN that is disconnecting.
Can you run the same VM without attaching the VPN, and see if it has normal internet access? Does it disconnect when running without the VPN?

Hi Scott, considering that the internet access still works on guest(linux) and everything (internet+vpn) works on host (windows) in the meantime, I suppose that it's a VBox problem.
Only VPN on guest stops working, the rest works perfectly.

If you still have internet in the VM when the VM's VPN goes down, then the Virtualbox network is still working. So the problem would be in the VPN or between the VPN and the VM's OS, not in Virtualbox.

The VPN works on the guest machine, so I don't think that there is a problem with it. I will ask on Ubuntu forums then, maybe it's an Ubuntu problem.
Thanks
