Hi,
I have been trying to setup a Windows server 2019 OS on a VM via Virtual Box but I am not able to get it to work.
Here is what I have done so far:
- VT-X is enabled in BIOS
- HyperV is turned off in optional features
- There is no credential guard because the host is Windows 10 basic, not professional
- Anti virus is turned off
Even after all this, I get a critical error when I start the machine for the first time and when it tries to load the windows iso. Log files attached.
I have tried to find a solution in this forum and others the whole day but I am at the end of my wits here. Maybe it is something really minor that I am not doing correctly and I just need a 3rd eye.
If someone can help that would be great!
Thanks in advance.
Unable to install Windows Server 2019 on VBox
Re: Unable to install Windows Server 2019 on VBox
Alright I fixed it. I think running the below in command prompt as admin worked for me. Although, I am not entirely sure because I tried a couple of other changes before restarting. I went by the suggestions posted in a thread in Superuser stackoverflow forum. I am unable to post the link here since I have been a member only for a few hours here. But a quick google search on 'VT-x is not available, but is enabled in BIOS' should get you the answer.
Code: Select all
bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off-

That is a well-known fix. You will find it mentioned in many posts in this forum. You did not really need to go to a third party site.
