How to clean memory after closing Virtualbox

Hello,

I use Linux Mint 20 Ulyana in my computer and install Windows 10 as the guest. After working with Windows and closing Virtualbox, Linux becomes very slow. It goes back to normal after restarting the system.

Is there a way to clean the linux memory without restarting the system ?

My physical ram is 6 GB and allocate 3 GB for virtual box.

Thanks in advance!

One option might be to use the System Monitor App which is automatically installed with Linux Mint help identify more precisely what it is that is using memory/causing the slow down during/after VirtualBox is shut down. You could also use it to "kill off" any VBox Services that do continue to run after the VirtualBox Manager (GUI) has been given time to fully shutdown to test the impact.

Once you know what's happening and what the identified cause seems to be, there might be a more effective solution that does not require constant manual intervention.
