Installation Kernel doesn't boot

Hi,

I am trying to install CentOS 8.3.2011 on a VM using VirtualBox 6.1.16 r140961 on a Windows 10 host. Hyper-V should be turned off, according to the output of bcdedit:
hypervisorlaunchtype Off
Now, when I start the VM, it comes up, and the Grub boot loader displays my options. I choose "Install CentOS Linux 8", and hit enter. Now I'd expect the installation kernel to launch, but that doesn't happen. Instead, the screen goes all blank, and the machine freezes. The log file ends with

Any ideas, what might be wrong?

Thanks,

Jochen

Start the guest from full power off, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the guest from within the guest OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the guest with the Power Off option set.

Please right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip the log file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

What guest OS? I am attempting to perform an installation, so there is none.

Done. Thank you!

Despite this:

Virtualbox reports that something is still using Hyper-V. See HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM (Hyper-V is active).

The installer environment qualifies as an operating system. It is 'operating' the 'system' while it walks one through the installation process. Though you didn't get the VM's window closed so the log could close down properly, the log shows what it needed to show for this diagnosis.

I am happy to report, that my problem appears to be fixed with 6.1.18. Thanks!
