Accessing "outside" hard drive with windows xp gue

Post by broken sword »

I am planning on using ubuntu mostly, but I can't get away from windows since I have to use it for work. I am looking into virtualization, testing VMware and VB. What I would like, is to be able to connect my xp guest, to one of my partitions. I'm planning on having 3 partitions: one for ubuntu OS, one for data, and one for my xp guest. Would I be able to set up the xp guest, so that it can access the data partition?

Thank you in advance.

You can with Shared Folders and/or Network Shares (Samba). You don't have to use a partition for the VM itself, as it uses a VDI file to store the data. You can however use RAW Disk Access for this ;).
