Hey everyone,

I've been encountering an issue between Unifi and Virtual Box. I run a home assistant server on virtualbox which controls a tablet and a few commands on my streamdeck but on the 22nd it started making my PC non responsive which is a big issue considering I work from home. After a bit of trial and error and a lot of wondering what TX hangs mean, I've narrowed it down to being a conflict between my Unifi Router and Virtualbox running home assistant. I did this by testing my ISP's router and creating a new home assistant server and then starting fresh and doing the same on the Unifi. Only the Unifi setup caused my PC to become non/barely responsive.

I'm not a network expert by any stretch of the imagination, most of what I know is from youtube tutorials from the likes of crosstalk solutions and thehookup so does anyone with more knowledge than me have any idea what's going on here? I recorded the logs from the virtualbox for each

I'm running the latest version of virtualbox 6.1.16, the HA server is running on Linux, Other linux 64 bit as per the install instructions and using the extension pack

Sounds like you have a Home Assistant VM (I've heard of that), and a "Unifi" and a "streamdeck" (I don't know what those are).

And your host PC is seizing up, after the 22nd, and you believe the "Unifi" and the VM are disturbing each other.

What changed on the 22nd?

If the pastebin files are VM logs, please zip and post them using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Please describe exactly what "Unifi" device you have, and please describe exactly your network and how each device is connected.

Also, right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show in Explorer/Finder/File Manager. Zip the VM's .vbox file (not the .vbox-prev file), and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

And provide the command output of these commands:
'ipconfig /all' on your Windows host
'ip address' or 'ifconfig' on the Home Assistant VM

Hey Scott, thanks for replying.

So Unifi is a router/network set up that Ubiquiti makes. Streamdeck is a macro hardware a lot of Twitch streamers use but I also found it can be used as a smart home controller, it's quite versatile.

On the 22nd I'm not entire sure what happened, my VM was working fine with home assistant before that but I woke up on the 22nd, started work. My VM loaded up in the background and all of a sudden it started freezing. I haven't managed to figure out what happened just where the conflict appears to be.

For my Network I have the USG Router, A Unifi 8 port switch and a AC Pro for the access point. My PC (The host computer) Is plugged into the switch via a ethernet cable.

I've attached the files requested except for the Ip on the home assistant VM. I'm not able to run commands in the log bit after I launch it as the computer freezes.

Thanks for the files and information. I see that as soon as you boot the VM the host PC freezes.

In the guest Settings, Network, on the first tab that you have set to Bridged, under Advanced "disconnect" the network cable. Then try booting the VM again.

Also please download and install an Ubuntu VM, also set to Bridged like you have the HA VM. See if that VM can boot correctly and use the network.

I turned off the cable on the Home assistant server and it didn't freeze my PC although I couldn't connect to the server in the browser.
For Ubuntu I downloaded the Ubuntu desktop server and launched it with the same network settings, it loaded up fine and i was able to run firefox as I would a normal browser from within the ubuntu desktop.

Just as an extra test I just tried launching home assistant from a Ubuntu server desktop in VM and it works although it's missing a few options.
