Hi guys, i have a small problem and i hope someone will be able to help me.
Basically I am usung Ubuntu 20.04 on Surface Pro 7 with a modified kernel (linux-surface kernel), which i believe is a part of the problem, but unforunately without this using linux on SP7 is impossible. While trying to run Virtual Box, trying to run Windows 10 64-bit i get this error:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows.
Details:
The virtual machine 'Windows' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1).
Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component:
MachineWrap
Interface:
IMachine {5047460a-265d-4538-b23e-ddba5fb84976}
and this info:
Kernel driver not installed (rc=1908)
The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver is either not loaded or not set up correctly. Please try setting it up again by executing
'/sbin/vboxconfig'
as root.
If your system has EFI Secure Boot enabled you may also need to sign the kernel modules (vboxdrv, vboxnetflt, vboxnetadp, vboxpci) before you can load them. Please see your Linux system's documentation for more information.
where: suplibOsInit what: 3 VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED (-1908) - The support driver is not installed. On linux, open returned ENOENT.
so as instructed i run '/sbin/vboxconfig' as root, which ended with this error:
vboxdrv.sh: Stopping VirtualBox services.
vboxdrv.sh: Starting VirtualBox services.
vboxdrv.sh: Building VirtualBox kernel modules.
vboxdrv.sh: failed: Look at /var/log/vbox-setup.log to find out what went wrong.
There were problems setting up VirtualBox. To re-start the set-up process, run
/sbin/vboxconfig
as root. If your system is using EFI Secure Boot you may need to sign the
kernel modules (vboxdrv, vboxnetflt, vboxnetadp, vboxpci) before you can load
them. Please see your Linux system's documentation for more information.
Secure Boot is disabled.
