Can memory ballooning and page fusion be used together?

Post by Doug9000 »

Per title: Can memory ballooning and page fusion be used together? That is, simultaneously.

I'm finding that I have one VM that's very demanding of resources, and a handful of others that are mostly idle. I'd like to set up page fusion and auto ballooning on the more chill VMs to free up physical memory to give to my 'desktop' vm where I open hundreds of tabs.

Also, how do I track what either of these things are doing? Do you just turn them on and attribute free-er memory to them?

I'd guess that the answer is yes, but I'd try it out myself before relying on it. I assume that you've read 4.10. Memory Overcommitment already? Note that there's also a link to 8.33. VBoxManage metrics inside, which answers your additional questions somewhat.
