It seems to be something to do with loading a (slightly) older version of Guest Additions because no matter where the boot process gets to, when the guest additions try to load (or finish loading) the process freezes. I've tried playing around with the settings of the VM (chipset, pointing device settings, enable/disable USB, change the amount of resources allocated, change the paravirtualization interface, etc.) and I can't seem to find anything that allows me to boot into the guest.
I had to remove the links in my post because I just created this account and I had to edit down the log file because of character limits.
