Wont log keyboard

Ive installed a program in WinXP thats installed within VB. The program sits in the XP system tray and waits for a combination of two keys to be pressed then plays a wav file. I can see the keys pressed in Notepad but this program (AutoMate) does not and will not play the wav file. Any ideas
