The other boot menu?

Post by Notorious »

Hi everyone,

Not too long ago I remember searching for a way to boot from a USB stick using Virtualbox or boot to Virtualbox BIOS, something like that. That time I also remember getting a lot of results saying that it's not possible, but somehow there was a solution that worked.

I know for sure it's not F12 boot menu with the black background, when I press this button while starting up Virtualbox, a menu will appear similar to how a BIOS would look like with colored background like teal or blue I can't remember. It has a few options and one of them was Boot manager or something where I can go in and choose where to boot from.

Is there such a hotkey? Is there any other hotkey other than F12? Memory is a bit foggy, or I might be dreaming

I can't seem to find it anymore :(

Thanks

The hotkeys are Esc for UEFI BIOS and F12 for legacy BIOS.

Hey,

I enabled EFI and use ESC, I believe you got it, that's the menu I remembered, although it's actually grey

I guess there's some misunderstanding of "disabling EFI to boot from USB" results I was getting while Googling, totally never thought about EFI settings since it always shows a DOS type screen with shell command prompt.

Thanks fth0 :P
