CentOS 8 no longer booting. Not even from new guest from installation media

I have used CentOS in a Virtual Box guest for many years, and starting today it no longer boots.
I get to the kernel select menu, but no matter what option I pick (even rescue mode) I get a black screen. I upgraded to latest version 6.1.16 with no difference, rebooted Windows, no difference (Windows 10 Pro, Version 2004, Buid 19041.572).
I figured it was time for a reinstall of CentOS anwyay and created a new guest and booted from latest available ISO CentOS-8.2.2004-x86_64-boot.iso. I get to the first menu where you can select between install and verification of installation media. No matter what option I pick, black screen.
The only thing I can think of is that a Windows update did something? I have verified that Hyper-V is disabled, but I no longer know how to trouble shoot any further.
Any tips?
