failing to install Win7 and Win10

I have used virtualbox happily on my old win7 laptop and things were always smooth. Now on a new to me Dell Precision 7530 laptop with Windows 10 I am failing to install both Win7 and Win10 as guests.

For both W7 and W10 setup get to "copying files" and eventually fails with "Windows cannot install required files". Win10 ISO was produced using official Windows ISO making tool.

Bios has all three checkboxes related to virtualization enabled.

My laptop has SSD drive and I have already tried "solid-state drive" checkbox in "Storage" setting this did not help.

It must be something trivial but I am totally missing it :(

I also had weird issues with trying to import appliances created on my older device - things are running but very very VERY slow in VB.

Please right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log.

Search the far left tab's log for this text:

Attempting fall back to NEM

If you find it, Hyper-V is enabled. If you are still running 6.1.14 or earlier, update to 6.1.16, and try again.

If the 6.1.16 log still shows these words, Hyper-V needs to be disabled. See HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM (Hyper-V is active).

If you don't find that text, save the far left tab's log, zip the log file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.
