Using existing Linux OS

Hi,

this is the first time I use a tool like xVM virtualbox.
I have 3 OS' installed on 2 Harddisks which are setup in a raid
A WinXP x86, WinXP x64, and Ubuntu 8.04

Now I'd like to run VirtualBox on WinXP x64 and virtualize my existing Ubuntu OS. Is this possible? If so, is "raw hard disk access" the right way to go?

So if it is possible and "raw hard disk access" is the way to go, i have to create a VDMK image file. How can i create such an image? (Didn't really understand it in the user manual)

And finally: I read that sometimes the MBR can cause errors and that you have to overwrite it. When you do it with the win recovery the linux partition will not be accessable right?

Thanks in Advance ;)

There are some great posts about how to get this working. For starters, see the Tutorial: All about VDIs first so you get to know a bit more about the whole structure. It's safest to add a separate MBR file for VB to use for the RAW Disk Access. Don't forget to change your xorg.conf so you can have a normal graphical interface. Using for example the ATi driver on your bare hardware will produce some errors when loading it in VB.
