problems with importing whonix

i was having problems with updating whonix. so i uninstalled both whonix and virtual box. now I reinstall virtual box. I remove the whonix applications from the tools. I press the import icon to reimport the whonix. but all I get is the import file page with no files there to import (no Whonix-Gateway.ova file). what gives? what am I doing wrong? I am not technically computer proficient.

Does this mean you removed the Whonix VM from the list of VMs in the main Virtualbox window? Did you delete the old files or remove only? (There's both options in the Remove command.)

When I click Import, I get a screen with an empty textbox and a yellow folder with a green up arrow on it. I click the yellow folder and a standard File Open browser box titled "Please choose a virtual appliance file to import" opens, inviting me to find the OVA to import. Do you see the same thing?
