Network "media disconnected" on Windows 10 guest

Post by itm »

I'm running a Windows 10 guest on a Windows 10 host. The guest was working fine the last time I started it up, but now the network connection is broken - it shows "Media disconnected". I have the network adapter attached to NAT in the guest settings.
This is the output from ipconfig/all in the guest:

Code: Select all

ipconfig/all

This is the output from VBoxManage showinfo for the guest:

Any idea what the problem is?

The New Guest Wizard defaults to giving Windows 10 guests an Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop 82540EM network adapter. You're using the PCnet-PCI II Am79C970A adapter. Does Windows 10 have drivers for this really old adapter?

See your guest's Network settings, first adapter, Advanced dropdown, Adapter type.

Many thanks - I changed the network adapter to Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop 82540EM and it resolved the problem.
