Ubuntu 20.04 host and Ubuntu 20.04 guest which ran continuously without problem in prior virtualbox release. After the upgrade, the guest freezes (GUI frozen, will not respond any mouse/keyboard input, or to shutdown signal - but guest container/menus still responsive) and must be powered off. This has happened about about twice a day since upgrading.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? There are so many other moving parts (e.g. other software on both host and guest updates) it's hard to be certain this is a vbox problem but seems likely. I've got a WIndows 10 VM I don't usually leave running all the time which I am going to try leaving up and see if it also suffers this problem.

Re: Linux guest freezes after upgrade to 6.1.16
Start the guest from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the guest from within the guest OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the guest with the Power Off option set.
Right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip it, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.
If you downgrade, does the guest become stable again?

Please explain how the container and menus are still responsive despite the mouse and keyboard aren't responding?jamiet1 wrote:guest freezes (GUI frozen, will not respond any mouse/keyboard input, or to shutdown signal - but guest container/menus still responsive

Similar problems seen. See post ext pack 6.1.14 fails to install
Partial success reported in post.
vboxmanage will close state for you, if that helps.
No solution. Seems some big problems with recent vbox versions have not been fixed.
I am looking into a different extension pack, and reinstalling earlier vbox versions until I get one to work. Then NOT upgrade it until the forums are quiet about any update problems on the new version.
This should be back on developers at this point while we try work arounds.
