hello guys,
I am using a win10 laptop, and need to run an old software under winxp (64bit), which I cant install under win10, so the VM seemed to be my solution. It worked ok at first, but since this morning I am getting the following error when I start the VM:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine vm1.
The virtual machine 'vm1' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1). More details may be available in 'C:\Users\username\VirtualBox VMs\vm1\Logs\VBoxHardening.log'.
Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: MachineWrap
Interface: IMachine {85632c68-b5bb-4316-a900-5eb28d3413df}
In the log file there are a lot of "win verify trust" issues shown with some dll files, attaching the zip file here. I have read through the forum and the "hardening problem", ran a sfc/scannow as admin, no problems shown, antivirus I have only the microsoft standard program for win 10, which should no cause any troubles. Ran the repair option with the setup a few times, also totally uninstalled the oracle software and ran the setup again, error remains the same, at my wits end now....
Would be grateful for any advice that helps me to get the VM back in operation.

Re: win verify trust issues with dll's
What build of Windows 10? In particular is it a mature build or an insider build?
If it's a mature build then there's always third party code involved: AV, or "web-safe" filters, screen readers, or hacked themes.
Another thing you can try is disabling 3D acceleration: if this makes the problem go away then it narrows the problem down to your graphics drivers. You can try disabling audio too, but do one test at a time.

Windows 10 2004 with updates up to 2020-09-03 (see Windows 10 version history).VBoxHardening.log wrote:2378.3278: ProductVersion: 10.0.19041.488
VirtualBox detected an adversary that it doesn't know. As mpack said, there exist a lot of possible software candidates for that.VBoxHardening.log wrote:2934.14a8: Error -104 in supR3HardenedWinReSpawn! (enmWhat=5)
