Ok so, I'm trying to write data to my minidisc player...I'm using the instructions found here (however I've swapped out VMWare for VirtualBox): watch?v=OE1e7rAzgSI&t=185s
tl;dr I have a windows 10 host, and a windows xp professional x64 guest. When I plug my minidisc player in, I can see it appear in the host machine. When I go to Devices > USB in VB I can see some of the usb devices connected to my host, but not all of them, and I can't see the minidisc player. I have the extensions installed, and the VMs setting are set to use USB 3 (thought I've also repeated this whole thing with usb 1 and 2).
What am I missing, and why don't all usb devices appear to VB?

XP doesn't know anything about USB3 - no such thing existed when XP was current.
