I have an old Acer 5532 laptop that runs Linux Lite, and I want to get XP installed in Virtualbox. I got sidetracked from what I was doing about it this spring, so I'm working from hazy memory here. I had a download that I extracted, and as I recall, there was another file within that that I had to extract. I saved these 2 folders in my documents folder before my hiatus started. I want XP, once installed, to be able to use a USB floppy and the mic & headphones. I'll need to know if the items in the folders should all be in one folder, and anything else about naming and locating one or both. Below are listed the folder contents. I noticed that the first file listed (xpm) was meant to be opened with Virtualbox. Thanks to whomever can help.

None of those files look anything like the legitimate XP install media that I have seen. I think you either got something illegitimate, or you have an XP mode VM setup that is only licensed to run under Windows 7 host OS.

Even legitimate XP install media requires a license from Microsoft.

Oracle & Virtualbox will not help circumventing licensing requirements.

You should be able to find a legitimate install DVD for XP, it was rather popular in its day.

I don't think there is anything we can recommend for what you have.
