I have lenovo t420 and recently added in an internal SSD.
When i benchmark the SSD, it appears significantly faster in VB. Is there any reason as to why?

Re: SSD way faster in virtualbox
Yes, it's because time in a VM is shared with the host. Lots of things are actually done by the host and from the guest POV will appear to take 0 time.
Moral: don't run automatically timed benchmarks inside a VM. Use a stopwatch.
