Alte Snapshots löschen ohne Probleme mit dem aktuellen zu bekommen

Hallo liebe Mitglieder,

bei mir haben sich eine Snapshots angesammelt bis ich endlich alles so hatte wie ich es brauch. Jetzt die Frage, kann ich diese löschen oder funktioniert dann meine laufende Version nicht mehr? Bitte nicht lachen, aber meine Festplatte ist leider voll.

You should make a complete backup of the whole guest folder and all guest disk files that might be outside the guest folder. (You can see where the guest disk files are located by opening the .vbox file in a text editor. Check also that the Snapshots folder is backed up too.) If a glitch happens, you would then be able to restore the existing guest state.

Then delete each snapshot. Delete removes the ability to go back to that snapshot and merges the data in the snapshot into the previous disk file in the chain. If no glitches happen in the computer, you should finally end up with a single disk file and just "Current State". I would recommend not doing other heavy things with the computer while deleting the snapshots.

Hallo und vielen Dank für die Antwort. Gibt es denn wirklich keine einfachere Möglichkeit? Ich benötige nur die letzte Version. Auch möchte ich nicht zu einer älteren Version zurückkehren.

You could make a full clone of the guest, then it will make a new guest with the Current State of the existing guest. UUIDs will change, meaning activation of guest OS & apps might be undone.

Deleting will keep the existing guest going.

You should empty out some stuff from your hard drive for the process to have a chance to complete successfully.

You can skip the backup, but that's like trapeze without a net. It can be done. It's up to you if you want to risk hitting the ground hard or not. We can't help fix any problems you might have if something goes wrong and you have no complete backup.
