I would like to make a vdi with ubuntu installed that I can recompress later.
Basically I want to put a fair bit of stuff on it that will have lots of small files and I'll be compiling from scratch and then pulling the source off. The files tend to push out the size of the vdi however so I was wondering if there is a filesystem/tool combination I can use to reclaim freespace in the guest filesystem to make the vdi smaller again.
