Hello !
I've read many tutorials for transfering datas to my virtual machine even on latest versions, but it has always been very difficulty for me.... :'( sorry...
I transfer every day about 1 Go to my virtual machine so USB is useful only with an external hard disk.
Actually I create an ISO of my transfert folder and mount it as DVD image. It is more faster to mount to my virtual machine BUT the problem is to send this ISO to my other hosts through the lan. It is long.
I wonder if there is a very fast mean to transfert heavy datas to my virtual machine ?
The best would be a folder to add virtually as an external hard disk or anything else to my virtual machine.
-> no updates !
But how could I do that ? I tried many times to follow precisely the method but without success... my virtual client detected nothing : nor usb,nor shared folder.
Does anyone has a tip ?
USB, Folder Shared, LAN Host-Client(virtual)

Hello !
I've read already about guest additions and tried in vain on linux.
I did not know that it worked with windows too. The virtualbox web talks about guest additions and shared folders. But I just have a free license of virtualbox. Is it possible to download it somwhere ? Or do I have to buy this add on ?

You need the PUEL version to be able to use USB. Go here VirtualBox Downloads and download the one for your OS. Then install the guest additions (in the guest) and it should all come together for you.

Re: USB, Folder Shared, LAN Host-Client(virtual)
Sorry I'm not sure to understand correctly in english :
-> Guest addition is not something you download, it is an option that appears during installation ?
(I did not manage to find it on download since a long time)
I've made an update to 3.0.6 without downloading anything else, and made a fast installation update. How can I be sure Guest additions are installed on my version ?
Help/A propos tells me :
3.0.6 r52128 but nothing about guest additions...
Thanks for your very appreciated help !
( I've downloaded the manual : http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads )

Re: USB, Folder Shared, LAN Host-Client(virtual)
I've discovered Guest Addition as an Iso during virtualbox session.
I have not been satisfied by the result except the free mouse, but I'll try another time because this is still not clear enough for me. Thanks for your help !

Hi,
I'm trying again Guest addition. The FREE MOUSE is a very good update.
Guest addition replaces my ISO (I have to unmount it manually).
In my case Isos are used on every sessions.
For shared folders : guest addition installed, folder added in Vbox preferences...
Virtual session : peripherics, shared, (folder visible) ok, and.... where is it... ? ... no, I don't find it.

All you should need to do is to click on unmount the CD/DVD in the devices tab of the guest window, then click on install guest additions in the same devices tab of the guest window. After you have the additions installed and rebooted then add you CD share back.
