Ubuntu 7.10 - guest additions killed it!

I was running at 1024x768 before I installed the guest additions, and now I'm stuck at 800x600. When I try to change to a different display type and set it above 800x600, it doesn't work at all - the screen goes all fuzzy and resets back to SVGA after 15 seconds.

I tried changing the settings in xorg.conf, but it still reverts to SVGA. I also had to boot into recovery mode and change xorg.conf right from the start - when I rebooted after installing Guest Additions, it was stuck in an endless loop of trying to display X11, X11 would crash, and it would keep trying over and over.

I've got the same problem. I have other Windows and Linux guests, but this problem started when i created a Ubuntu 7.10 guest and added the guest additions.

I too am having a similar problem. I installed additions, tried to change the screen, rebooted, and now my screen is completely messed up. This is with Ubuntu 7.10. Here's what it looks like:

I can't even see enough of the screen to change the settings!
