Mounting physical floppy with MS-DOS guest/ Ubuntu host

Post by malcolmw »

While I've got DOS and my application(s) of choice working well, I'm struggling to get the physical floppy working. It works fine under Ubuntu Linux, but won't work under VB.

I "install" it in the VB configuration panel, and then start my DOS virtual machine. The green light comes on, but I get the dreaded "Abort/ Retry/ Fail" message when trying to read from the disk.

The green light stays on throughout. Needless to say, there *is* a disk in the drive!

Yes, floppy images work 100% reliably. It's the physical floppy drive that doesn't. It works well under the Ubuntu host, but not under the DOS guest. The motor spins and the light goes green, but that's all.

I've seen it before, best to open a bugtracker ticket.
