Running VirtualBox inside a virtualized OS

Post by Remold »

I am trying to install the Sun VDI demo on a virtualized OS on my laptop and am running into problems when installing a Windows XP image.

My setup:
Latop with Vista
VDI Demo host is Solaris 10, virtualized with either VirtualBox 2.2.4 or VMWare Workstation 6
Installed within Solaris 10 the VirtualBox 2.0.8 which comes with Sun VDI

When Solaris 10 is running within VB 2.2.4 Solaris 10 hangs when starting a new machine the VirtualBox 2.0.8 (new machine is configured for Windows XP).
When Solaris 10 is running within VMWare Workstation the machine in VirtualBox 2.0.8 gives a critical error after loading the Windows XP device drivers.

Is it possible to start a machine with VirtualBox when VirtualBox is running in a Virtualized environment?

Nope, won't and can't work, only one virtualiser can be in charge.

In VMWARE you can run VMWARE. There are some special parameters for vmx files. Some people uses this to check new ESX Versions before iron install.

What does not and can not work is using vt in a guest using vt on the host.
