I have a HP Pavillion running Windows 7 - 64 bit OS. It has a built in Memory (SD/MMC) card reader.
I have installed Windows XP SP3 and Ubuntu as guests on VirtualBox 2.2.4
I am able to access the connected USB drives with out any problem on both the guests but unable to access the SD card placed in the built in card reader. Is there anyway to get the guest OS to recognize the memory card? Is it even possible? I have looked around the net but could not find an answer.
Thanks,
Jai
Accessing Built-in Memory Card Reader
Re: Accessing Built-in Memory Card Reader
If its not seen as a usb device you can only access it via a Host windows share.

Re: Accessing Built-in Memory Card Reader
Thank you; I am able to access it via shared folders. Do you know why I am not seeing it under the USB devices. Or is it the way it is supposed to be?
Re: Accessing Built-in Memory Card Reader
It might not register as a usb device. Some are linked to a ide or pcmcia controller.

Re: Accessing Built-in Memory Card Reader
My card reader unit shows up as a "generic mass storage device [0100]" I am able to connect it to my virtual machine(s), but if I do that, I lose it on the host OS. I think a better option (and the one I use if I need to use the card reader) is to set up a windows share on the host, and connect to it from the VM that way. It works just fine for me.Jaimohan wrote:I have a HP Pavillion running Windows 7 - 64 bit OS. It has a built in Memory (SD/MMC) card reader.
